Bahrain - Is officially know as the Kingdom of Bahrain. Bahrain is an Asian Country and is an island State located in the Persian Gulf. Bahrain is connected to Saudi Arabia by the King Fahd Causeway that opened in 1986. Due to Bahrain's strategic location is has been influenced by others as far back as the Babylonians. Being an island surrounded by salty sea and the fact of fresh water springs made it an ideal strong hold. Needing to control the Persian Gulf trade route, the Parthians established garrisons in the southern coast of Persian Gulf In the 3rd century AD, and followed by the Sasanids succeeded and held the area until the rise of Islam four centuries later.
