Kuwait

Kuwait - Is officially known as The State of Kuwait. Kuwait is an Asian Country and shares borders with Saudi Arabia, Iraq and the Persian Gulf. Kuwait became fully independent following an exchange of notes between the United Kingdom and the then emir of Kuwait, in 1961. Kuwait was attacked and overrun by Iraq on 2 August 1990. Following several weeks of aerial bombardment, a US-led, UN coalition began a ground assault on 23 February 1991 that liberated Kuwait in four days. Kuwait spent more than $5 billion to repair oil infrastructure damaged during 1990-91 and another US$17 billion Kuwait paid the coalition forces for their war efforts. Did Iraq ever repay their $65 billion debt, to Kuwait, that it had accumulated during their conflict with Iran?
Although Kuwait has a brief history only since 1600's it was once a major center for spice trading between India and Europe and a trading hub for other parts of the world.
Today, Kuwait is the ninth richest country in the world per capita and has the world's fifth largest proven oil reserves.
