Thailand
Thailand - Is officially known as The Kingdom of Thailand. Thailand is an Asian Country and shares borders with Laos, Cambodia, Burma (Myanmar), Malaysia, the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. A bloodless revolution in 1932 led to a constitutional monarchy. In alliance with Japan during World War II, Thailand became a US ally following the conflict. Thailand has a well-developed infrastructure, a free-enterprise economy, and generally pro-investment policies, has fully recovered from the 1997-98 Asian Financial Crisis. The country was one of East Asia's best performers from 2002-04. Boosted by strong export growth, the Thai economy grew 4.5% in 2007. Economic growth in 2007 was due almost entirely to robust export performance - despite the pressure of an appreciating currency. Thailand enjoys a high level of literacy, and education is provided by a well organized school system of kindergartens, primary, lower secondary and upper secondary schools, numerous vocational colleges, and universities. The region known as Thailand has been inhabited by humans since the paleolithic period, about 10,000 years ago. Thailand has many beautiful temples, beaches, mountains and other attracting features for tourist to enjoy.
