Mongolia

Mongolia - Is officially known as The People's Republic of Mongolia. Mongolia is an Asian Country and is completely surrounded by other countries, which mean it has no ports of sea. Mongolia shares borders with China (PROC) on 3 and Russia to the north. Although Mongolia does not share a border with Kazakhstan it is only a few miles from its western most tip. Mongolia gained fame in the 13Th century while under Chinggis KHAN Mongols conquered a huge Eurasian empire. In 1911, Mongolia declared independence, but had a difficult time of it until 1921 to firmly establish true independence, and until 1945 to gain international recognition. A Communist regime was installed in 1924. Mongolia has limited natural fresh water resources in some areas; the policies of former Communist regimes promoted rapid urbanization and industrial growth that had negative effects on the environment. Trade with China represents more than half of Mongolia's total external trade - China receives about 70% of Mongolia's exports. Remittances from Mongolians working abroad both legally and illegally are sizable, and money laundering is a growing concern.
